LES FONTAINES DU VILLAGE
Seven remarkable fountains, each with its own character and history, to visit in the village of Cabrières d'Aigues.
As you explore the village of Cabrières d'Aigues, nicknamed "The Village of 7 Fountains", you'll discover its fountains, each with its own character and history. The first to be created, the Petite Fontaine, served as a drinking trough in days gone by. The Gaye fountain is topped by a notch in the wall to channel the seepage. On the Place de la Mairie, the most recent fountain was built in 1874. A little further on, at the level of the bridge, another unnamed fountain can be seen. The other three fountains are located on the side of the château rock: the Lavoir des Escaliers fountain, the Fountain Longue and the Turinette, which has the unusual feature of being underground.
