Carpentras' fountains are fed by a medieval aqueduct.
Already in the 14th century and under the pontifical administration of Clement V, the fountains of Carpentras were fed by a medieval aqueduct. Following the plague of 1720 and the failure of this first work, the city built a new aqueduct in the 18th century. The plans were signed by Antoine d'Allemand, who also realized those of the Hôtel-Dieu. The result is impressive with 48 arcades of 630 meters long and 23 meters high. To see it, take the direction of Orange or Bédoin. The canal can also be found in Fontaine de Vaucluse.
