THE SOBIRATS MUSEUM
The Carpentras decorative arts museum is housed in one of these many private hotels in the city. This is the former house of the Armand de Châteauvieux family, its lounges and its boudoirs richly decorated in the 18th century style. Aubusson tapestries, Marseille and Moustiers earthenware, landscape paintings and aristocratic portraits. If the former host did not give his name to the museum, it is simply because he was rewarded with generous donations from the last earl of Sobirats, he is also from these big Carpentras families who contributed to its cultural influence and its development.
