Le Jardin Romain, an important historical site in Caumont-sur-Durance, to see the exceptional remains of an ancient villa.
As is often the case, it was a simple real estate project, since abandoned, that brought to light this important historical site in Caumont-sur-Durance in the 1990s. Here, you'll find exceptional remains of a wealthy villa dating back to Roman times. A vast garden dating from the same period, with a 65 m-long ornamental pool at its center, is the only known example of its kind in Gaul. There are also thermal baths, a burial area and potters' kilns. A must-see for the whole family if you want to step back in time.
