THE COMTADIN JEWISH MUSEUM
The Musée juif Comtadin, a major witness to the ritual life of the small Comtat Jewish community that lived in Cavaillon.
He remains the major witness to the life of the small Jewish community of the Comtat who lived in Cavaillon until the Revolution before dispersing to the large towns around 1912. Ritual objects and archival documents such as the ketouba (marriage contract) were discovered there. Many come from a book cemetery (guéniza), discovered in 1928 in the synagogue's roof frame. Regularly, thanks to donations or acquisitions, "treasures" such as this 18th century ketouba, recently donated by a Parisian gallery, are regularly added.
