Place that made the heart of the city beat for centuries with a peak in the nineteenth century in Cavaillon.
A long triangular square that rests against the slopes of the Saint-Jacques hill. The arches of the Roman arch are planted here. This square was the heart of the city for centuries, reaching its peak in the 19th century. This prosperous period brought the city out of its ramparts. It was here that the fruit and vegetable wholesale market was held daily until 1960. All around were crowded shipping houses and cafés. Today, it is the place for enthronements, the old-fashioned melon market and the 14th of July ball.
