THE RUINS OF THE CASTLE
The romantic ruins of the Château des Evêques de Cavaillon, a place steeped in history and poetry.
The village is dominated by the romantic ruins of the castle of the bishops of Cavaillon (13th century). Philippe de Cabassole, a friend of Pétrarque's, made frequent stays there. Property of the Saignet family, it was destroyed in the 16th century and then abandoned when the industries settling on the banks of the Sorgue modified the structure of the village. The beginning of the path starts just after the bridge. Before you start, you should know that it is not marked out. Good shoes are mandatory as some passages are quite steep and very slippery.
