TEMPLE PROTESTANT
Temple built between 1633 and 1641 at the top of the village, featuring a walnut pulpit from 1819 and a harmonium
The Protestant temple at La Motte d'Aigues, located at the top of the village, has an eventful history. Originally built between 1633 and 1641, it was demolished by order of Louis XIV in 1663. Rebuilt after the Revolution in 1817, it fell into ruin at the end of the 19th century and was rebuilt in 1904. Its simple architecture bears witness to the strong Protestant presence in the village since the 16th century. The interior features a walnut pulpit dating from 1819 and a 20th-century harmonium. After a renovation in 2015, the Association "Les amis du temple Mottassin" is continuing its efforts to improve the comfort and aesthetics of the interior, thanks to cultural events and donations.
