Saint-Roch's chapel, located in the middle of the pines, on the St-Martin hillside in Lauris
In the middle of the pines, on the hillside of St-Martin, stands the chapel of Saint-Roch, patron saint of the village, which he preserved from plague epidemics. Rebuilt in 1789, it has been a place of pilgrimage for the inhabitants of Lauris ever since. Contrary to its namesakes, it was not built at the time of the great plague, but to thank the patron saint of the parish for stopping cholera in Lauris. A nice visit while walking around. Too bad it can't be visited. From outside, you can see its whitened walls, its bell tower and an oculus (bull's eye).
