A place of remembrance with a panoramic view, listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments
Of the old castrum, only two sections of walls remain, but it is nevertheless listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments as a place of memory. Together with the old village, they recall the appalling cruelty of the Wars of Religion at the time when the Waldensian and then Protestant village of Mérindol was temporarily wiped off the map. The panorama offered to the visitor's eye is impregnable. This place of remembrance can be reached by the draille du Vieux-Mérindol or by the chemin de Bénézet. At the top, there is a memorial.
