Impressive gorges at Mérindol, formed over 6 million years ago as the Alps rose.
Please take a few precautions. No hiking on rainy days, as there may be landslides. Not recommended for very young children. For the rest, you enter a surprising canyon carved out of the Luberon limestone massifs by streams. From the parking lot, you have to cross an olive grove before reaching the entrance to these impressive gorges. They were formed over 6 million years ago as the Alps rose. When, 4 million years later, the sea covered the area, the gorges formed a calanque.
