Monument of Renaissance style, flanked by loopholes and surmounted by two turrets visible on the north side in Monteux.
This monument - formerly Porte Notre-Dame - was the northern entrance to the city. Today, two parts clearly mark two eras. The side within the walls dates from the 15th century. It was in the 17th century that the gate was restored and then doubled by the addition of a new Renaissance-style gate, flanked by loopholes and topped by the two turrets visible on the north side. It then took the name of Porte Neuve defended by a drawbridge thrown over the ditch of the rampart. Traces of it were found during the recent development work on the Place de la Glacière.
