A festival of lyric art that bewitches the ancient theatre of Orange, the only building of its kind that has kept its acoustic wall!

The Chorégies d'Orange festival has such a distinctive name that simply pronouncing it conjures up an incomparable venue and world-renowned performances. Regardless of the theatrical repertoire, which originally consisted mainly of Greco-Latin tragedies, it is the monument itself, the 2,000-year-old ancient theater, that fascinates. It is the only building of its kind to have retained its acoustic wall. To cultivate, move, educate and please through theatrical play has long been the objective of the directors of the Chorégies.

Un cadre absolument magnifique, des décors somptueux, mais quelle déception quant à l'acoustique! Lorsqu'on est dans les rangées supérieures, on entend peu ou mal les chanteurs. De plus, pour Mme Butterfly, les sous-titres étaient projetés sur des écrans latéraux et on peut difficilement à la fois regardez la scène et lire les sous-titres sans tourner la tête. De plus, une grosse pluie était tombée juste avant l'entrée dans le théâtre et les gradins étaient couverts d'eau. Rien n'était prévu par les organisateurs pour évacuer cette eau. Heureusement que nos voisins de sièges nous ont généreusement offert des sacs plastiques. Sans cela, ce qui aurait dû être une belle soirée aurait tourné au cauchemar.
