ATELIER DE FACTURE D’ORGUES DE BARBARIE
The Barbarie organs, popular music instruments of acrobats and hawkers of the 19th century are curious machines that combine the skills of the liturgical organ with those of watchmaking. Their manufacture was stopped around the early-mid 20th century, but some irreducible enthusiasts continue to manufacture, restore or rebuild these little jewels of old-fashioned ingenuity. Didier Bougon, Artisan Factor builder, is one of them. He will passionately talk about it with you, his organs with 27 or 29 notes, organs with turned flute, reed or chromatic organs with 42 or 47 notes! He builds, rebuilds and restores them. In his studio, also perforated cartons on any style of music, from classical to jazz. An rewarding stop.
