THE SAINT-JACQUES TOWER

A magnificent tower in Pertuis, listed as a Monument Historique, housing two vaulted rooms.
Magnificently restored in 1978, the Saint-Jacques tower is the only survivor of the seven towers of the 14th century ramparts. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1930, it houses two vaulted rooms and has a floor that opens onto a covered walkway, some of the ruins of which can still be seen. Its archers, its platform with crenellations and machicolations let you imagine the battles that may have taken place at its feet. In the past, it was called Tour du Nais. This monument is inseparable from the troubled history of Pertuis.
