TEMPLE PROTESTANT
A temple steeped in history, built in 1867 as a place of worship for the local population, and now hosting a variety of cultural events
The Temple de Peypin d'Aigues is a place steeped in history within the commune. Built in 1867 with the help of government subsidies and the participation of many local residents, it was a place of worship for people beyond the Protestant community. Until 1866, Protestants in Peypin d'Aigues met at the temple in La Motte d'Aigues. After a period of decline, the temple was restored in 1975 with the help of the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon, then disused. Today, it hosts a variety of cultural events, while remaining accessible to Protestants for their own celebrations. Its architecture is marked by a bell tower typical of rural chapels and a symmetrical facade to which a historical plaque of the Peypin Protestants is attached as a witness to history.
