The Templar commandery, the oldest in Provence, is located in Richerenches.
The Richerenches Commandery of the Knights Templar is the oldest and best preserved in Provence, created in 1136 thanks to a gift from Lord Hugues de Bourbouton, and on which the other nearby commanderies depended. The Templars administered financial resources: it was one of the largest stud farms in France, supplying horses for the Crusades. Today, the temple house houses the tourist information point, the Truffle Museum and the Commanderie Museum.
