Romanesque church built in the early century by the Benedictine monks of Saint-André de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon in Saint-Christol
Listed as a Historic Monument, this Romanesque church was built at the beginning of the 12th century by the Benedictines of Saint-André de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, on the top of the village. Indeed, the lord of Agoult had entrusted the Benedictines with the management and development of the fief before leaving for the crusade with Urbain II. Its sanctuary is sincerely worth the detour. Indeed, it is decorated with an exceptional richness rather surprising in high Provence: carved columns decorated with snakes, lions guarding the altar.
