THE ROCK CHURCH
Romanesque church with stained glass windows donated by Frédérique Duran, a glass artist whose Musée du Vitrail is in Gordes.
The small Romanesque church stands at the crossroads of this tiny village. In the chevet of the church are tombs dug out of the rock, bearing witness to 11th and 12th century burial rites in the village. Mothers' graves are often surrounded by those of their children, and it was said that Saint Pantaléon woke up stillborn babies and baptized them so they wouldn't wander off into limbo. The stained-glass windows were donated by Frédérique Duran, a glass artist whose magnificent Musée du vitrail is 2 km away in the direction of Les Imberts.
