THE CHAPEL OF THE CASTLE
chapel with Romanesque altar, carved wooden pulpit and apse with lapidary inscription
Dominating the village and all the Pays d'Apt, the site of the castle offers a breathtaking view. The chapel was built in the 11th century. The Romanesque altar, the carved wooden pulpit and the apse with a lapidary inscription of consecration dating from the 11th century are remarkable. The most remarkable piece is the painting illustrating the Descent from the Cross. The chapel is built on the site of the miracle of Saint-Saturnin or the "Rosette Tamisier affair". This mystical affair (before Lourdes) aroused passions throughout France. Contact the town hall for visits.
