Windmill, a majestic building with a roof whose slope is particularly adapted to the Mistral wind
In the 17th and 18th centuries, four of them beat the wind on the crests of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt. Daudet immortalized them as one of the emblems of Provence. Today, only one remains, which operated until the end of the 19th century. It didn't stand much of a chance against steam and then electric mills. Nevertheless, the building is still as majestic as ever, with its sloping roof particularly well-suited to the Mistral wind, its wings and the tiled threshing and drying area.
