THE SCORPION'S HOUSE
La maison is a stop of the piétonnié tour proposed by the Tourist Office. It tells the little story of Marcel Pagnol. We often forgot that the writer and scenario writer evokes the town of Valréas in La gloire de mon père. It is learned there that his paternal family was from there, as testifies this extract: "My father was the fifth child of a stonecutter of Valréas, close to Orange. The family had been settled there for several centuries. [...] my forefathers were made bomb disposal experts, they manufactured powder, cartridges and rockets. One of them, a great-great-uncle, left one day its shop, through a closed window, in an apotheosis of sparks, surrounded by suns whirling, on a sheaf of Roman candles. He did not die about it, but on its left cheek, the beard did not push back any more. This is why, until the end of his life, one called it "Lou Rousti", i.e. the Roast. ". Jean Pagnol, cousin of Marcel, lived with Valréas until his death in 1993 and were very implied in communal community life. A panel recalls the episode of the "Rousti" on the house which bears from now on its name. With noted that the pedestrian tour is downloadable on the website of the Office of the tourisme.
