ARS SANCTUARY
Sanctuary to welcome pilgrims, raise awareness of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney, Cure of Ars, and preserve his memory in this place.
The Sanctuaire d'Ars belongs to the Roman Catholic Church, and more specifically to the diocese of Belley-Ars, ecclesiastical province of Lyon. Since the death of Jean-Marie Vianney, Curé d'Ars until 1859, the Shrine's mission has been to welcome pilgrims, to make known the holy Curé, patron saint of all curés, and to preserve his memory in this place. The communities of brothers, sisters and lay people who live here welcome pilgrims with joy. They invite them to encounter the Lord, strengthen their faith and discover the work of the Curé d'Ars.
