The neo-Gothic style church stands on the site of the 12th century cathedral. The work was completed in 1851. The building is 78.4 m long, 31.1 m wide and 40 m high (bell tower). The apse and its five radiating chapels date from the 15th century, while the paintings are from the 19th century. Inside is the reliquary of Saint Anthelme, first prior general of the Carthusian order, bishop of Belley from 1163 to 1178, patron saint of the town, co-titular of the cathedral.
