A listed episcopal palace, housing a municipal library, company premises and a hall.
Belley has been an important religious centre since antiquity. It is on the site of the former episcopal see which dated from the 12th century, that this building was built and completed in 1780 on the initiative of Mgr Cortois de Quincey, bishop of Belley (1751-1791), on the plans of Soufflot, (the architect of the Pantheon and the Hôtel-Dieu in Lyon). Classified as a historical monument since 1932, it was bought by the town in 1978 and now houses the municipal library, the premises of the Société Savante Le Bugey, and is used as an exhibition and reception hall.
