JACOBIN GATE
Door in broken arch with important voussures, the oldest vestige of Bresse, witness of the existence of the Dominican convent.
At the corner of the rue de la République and the rue Jules Migonney, this gate is the oldest vestige of the town, the last obvious witness to the existence of the Dominican convent. This building was in fact partly dismantled during the Revolution, and the rest sold to different owners. It was founded in 1414 by the Dukes of Savoy and financed by master clothiers, the Guyot brothers, whose coat of arms appears on the base of a niche on the right of the door. A door with a pointed arch and important arches which give it its relief.
