SQUARE LALANDE
A verdant square, surrounded by silver lime trees, housing sculptures that refer to astronomy and its values.
It's hard to miss this triangle of greenery, with its statue of the astronomer Jérôme Lalande, enthroned on a column, with sculptures on either side referring to astronomy and its values. The square is surrounded by silver lime trees. It features a long flowerbed, a rare American February tree, a wrought-iron balustrade and children's play areas. All of which make it a pleasant place to relax. The site was already in existence in the Middle Ages, when it was known as Place de l'Orme or Place de la Justice, as people came here to watch the tortures.
