CHATEAU DE CHÂTILLON
Châtillon Castle is undergoing a vast restoration plan and is ideal for attending historical summer events.
Built around the year 1000 by the Lords of Châtillon, the castle passed to the Counts of Savoy in 1272, who appreciated its strategic position and the size of its buildings. In 1598, following Henri IV's war with Savoy, Bresse was invaded and the château razed to the ground. All that remained was the enclosure, its ogival gate and the foundations of four of the seven original towers. These towers have now been restored to their former glory, offering an exceptional view. The site hosts a number of shows and a pedestrian trail around the castle.
