THE MUSEUM OF THE COMB AND THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY
The museum traces the industrial history of the town of Oyonnax, and features pieces worthy of goldsmiths and machine tools.
As early as the 18th century, Oyonnax was renowned for its handcrafted combs, first in wood, then in horn. At the end of the 19th century, the arrival of celluloid (plastic) changed all that. In the 1920s, comb manufacturers expanded their production to include other plastic objects. This Musée de France traces the town's industrial history, and features goldsmiths' pieces, incredible machine tools and exhibitions of plastic art.
