HOSPITAL APOTHECARY
Apothecary's with nice and unusual museums that deserve to be discovered, on reservation.
A sort of old-fashioned pharmacy located in the "Hôtels-Dieu" and intended to store medicinal plants, simple medicines and remedies, the apothecaries, including the one in Thoissey, now offer some pretty unusual museums: elaborate earthenware pots, superb walnut woodwork in the grand style and frescoes on the ceiling by the Beaujolais artist Jean Lugnot for this example, which was built between 1731 and 1734. A discovery full of charm, to be made on reservation.
