GOLF ET RESTAURANT DE LA SORELLE
Semi-gastronomic restaurant with terraces in Villette-sur-Ain making daily suggestions and cold dishes.
If you are a golfer, the Golf de la Sorelle is evidently the place to be (see our section Sports/Loisirs, Golf). But if you are not a golfer, you can be Clever and enjoy an exceptional natural setting, in Dombes to discover an exceptional restaurant. The restaurant of the Golf de la Sorelle is open to everyone and run in the kitchen by the excellent Thierry Volatier, who worked previously for a great name of the region, Georges Blanc. We better say that the food quality places this restaurant among the best semi-gourmet addresses of our guide and is accessible to everyone. The natural setting is sensational with the two splendid and bucolic terraces and with the beautiful 15th century house accommodating refined rooms, with fireplace for the winter and well-set tables. The food is both traditional and trendy and is as appealing as the setting. The Grenouilles menu with its fresh frogs reminds us that we are in Dombes but the menu surely makes you travel: bream tartar seasoned with vanilla oil and mango or a summer Parma ham chiffonade, melon rosette. Then comes a duck magret cooked with seasonal fruits, crepes vonassiennes or Gambas flavoured with whisky, curry and coconut milk sauce, basmati rice. You land sweetly with a delicious Tarte Tatin or profiteroles. Nice wine list. In addition to the restaurant, the brasserie, still run by the chef Volatier, offers daily suggestions and cold dishes ideal for golfers when the restaurant is closed. It is possible to organise wedding and banquets, by privatising the place. A gourmet and Smart place for various reasons.
