SAINT-BENOIT DOME
The Saint-Benoît Dome features a hexagonal drum structure and an imposing tile-covered dome.
Former chapel of a Benedictine convent - 17th century -, the Dome Saint-Benoît is characterized by a hexagonal drum structure and an imposing dome covered with ochre glazed tiles and topped by a lantern. During the Revolution, it was transformed into a grain market, hence the name of the square where it is located: Place de la Grenette. Later on it became a depot for fire-fighting equipment. Classified as a historical monument in 1944, the dome was converted into a museum of religious art objects in the 1960s at the instigation of Abbot Jean Charay.
