CASTLE OF AUBENAS
This château, the finest example of civil architecture in the Ardèche region, houses works from different periods.
A prestigious heritage site and emblematic monument of the town of Aubenas, its château is considered to be the finest example of civil architecture in the Ardèche. Built in the 13th century for defensive purposes by the Montlaur family, it later evolved towards more residential uses. After years of restoration, it is now open to the public and can be visited in almost its entirety, with access designed for all (PRM). Transformed into a contemporary art center, it hosts 5 to 7 exhibitions a year.
