SYNDICAT DES OLÉICULTEURS DE L'ARDÈCHE
This union was created in 1995 at a time when the department revived with the olive-growing tradition was established by the recovery plan set up at that time. While there were fewer than 40 000 olive trees, the union provided aid to those who wanted to start or recover in the plantation, technical advice for size, harvest… Today there are 100 000 olive trees in Ardèche. In 1999, the union also embarked on a programme for recognition of local land and identified as many as 30 varieties of endemic olive trees. A classification in AOC was a time considered, but this large number of varieties hindered such recognition (which usually puts one or two varieties first).
