A tower and a beautiful gate surmounted by a bretèche remain from the former priory.
One can admire the priory of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Chaffre in Le Monastier. The Jesuits of Puy took over from the Benedictines at the beginning of the 17th century. You can see the Romanesque church (12th century), open to worship and visit, with the choir window and its modillions, and the ten original capitals reinstated by the Jesuits during the reconstruction of the building in the 17th century. The bell tower and the first bays of the nave are later. A tower and a beautiful 15th century door surmounted by its bretèche remain from the old priory.

Historique !
