Classified as a Grand Site de France, the Aven - which differs from a cave in that its natural entrance is vertical - is a cavity created by water erosion in the Bois de Ronze massif. The site itself is worth a visit for the beauty of its natural formations, but is also a lively place all year round, with numerous activities and exhibitions organized.

Sur le site, il y a aussi un musée de la préhistoire très intéressant, proposant plusieurs animations: faire du feu, lancer de sagaie, taille du silex. petits et grands sont comblés.
Une visite que nous recommandons vivement et que nous avons apprécié mille fois plus que celle de la réplique de la Grotte Chauvet !
