MUSEUM OF THE PROTESTANT VIVARAIS
Museum housing the house of Pierre and Marie Durand located in Pranles, testifying to the life of the Huguenots of Vivarois in the 17th century.
On the Huguenots road, this museum is housed in the home of Pierre and Marie Durand, resistant and martyrs for their faith in the eighteenth century. Pierre Durand, pastor (1700-1732) conservator of reformed churches in Vivarais, was hanged in Montpellier for violating the king's orders prohibiting the Protestant religion. Her sister Marie Durand (1711-1776) was a prisoner of the tower of Constance in Aigues-Mortes before finishing his days in his home home. This museum testifies to the life of the vivarois huguenots of the xviie by recalling the deep motives of their faith. And this house is the property of the French Protestantism Society. The Ardéchois are proud that part of their Protestant history is thus explained to visitors, especially to the younger ones. From this past, there are many battles still being fought today, despite the separation of church and state after the French revolution.
