MUSÉE DE L'ALAMBIC
The Musée de l'Alambic is located near the Distillerie Jean Gauthier in Saint Désirat in the Rhône Valley. It is dedicated to the late profession of mobile distillers. During the last century, they moved from farm to farm with their mobile stills to distillate spirits on-site. You can discover many splendid copper "rolling machines" from all the regions of France, which produced spirits over 1400 m ² of exhibition space. All tools and utensils required for these on-site operations are also displayed. They are classified into 30 tables recalling the memory of this particular rural heritage that is now part of history. You can also enrich your knowledge by visiting a part of the currently active Gauthier Distillery. You will therefore visit the distillation workshop before the bottling line and then one of the ageing cellars in oak barrels. To complete the entire manufacturing process of various spirits, a slideshow of beautiful explicit pictures will be shown to you for a detailed description. Count 60 to 90 minutes for the whole visit during which you will not see time fly by. And to finish, a free and convivial tasting of various products from the Jean Gauthier Distillery will be offered.
