Listed site of a troglodyte village built on an ancient volcano in the Coiron massif
On this interesting site, classified as a historic monument, you'll discover an ancient troglodyte village built on an extinct volcano. The volcanic plateau bordered by black lava cliffs, characteristic of the Coiron massif, dominates the limestone and marl landscapes of the Bas Vivarais. This volcanic rock was dug out by man some 8 million years ago to serve as dwellings. The site can be reached by footpath from the church of Saint-Gineis-en-Coiron or from the village center of Saint-Jean-le-Centenier.

Village troglodyte
C'est un véritable village qui s'offre à nous aux Balmes de Montbrun. Différentes habitations nous sont restés, mais aussi des lieux de cultes. À découvrir pas à pas, idéal pour un randonnée estivale.
