MAISON DES VINS ET DU TOURISME
A house providing tourist information and advice, and above all a showcase for the wines of the northern Rhône Valley
The former Hôtel Badet has been beautifully transformed to house the Maison des Vins and the Rhône Crussol Tourisme office. Here you'll find tourist information and advice, and above all a fine showcase for the wines of the northern Rhône Valley. The 3 local appellations - Cornas, Saint-Joseph and Saint-Péray - are presented, along with 50 cuvées from around 30 estates in the communes of Guilherand-Granges, Saint-Péray, Cornas and Châteaubourg. Tastings are conducted using an enomatic system, which dispenses wine by the glass, and offers enlightened commentary. You can buy the bottles you like on the spot, at the price of direct sale ex-cellar. But it's hard to choose. This divine white Saint-Joseph from Courbis, the cuvée Empreinte from the Durand brothers' domaine, or a Saint-Péray from the domaine du Tunnel? What variety, what quality! The Maison des Vins offers a wide range of events. In addition to its wine-tourism offerings in the vineyards, the Maison des Vins organizes Wednesday after-work sessions with a winegrower and a winemaker or restaurateur, featuring 3 wines and 3 appetizers. Tables are set up on the terrace and the guinguette opens. The same goes for brunches on the last Sunday of the month. For the rest of the year, the Grandes Tablées are held once a month, featuring 3 winemakers and a chef, with an aperitif and nibbles, followed by a fine dinner. Free parking directly opposite.
