The site, which covers 30 hectares, represents the largest concentration of remains from all known periods in France. It attests to human occupation from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Metal Age to the Gallo-Roman and Medieval periods. After visiting the caves, head for the archaeological museum. Among the major discoveries on display are the lithic tools of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man, the partial skeleton of a mammoth, the sacrificial altar dedicated to the goddess Soïo... Archaeological excavation workshops are offered.
