FÊTE DU REBLOCHON ET DE L'ARTISANAT
Every year, craftsmen and farmers are in the spotlight with reconstructions of rural scenes in the pure mountain tradition: milking cows and goats, making reblochon or white tomme, making bread, tedding, sheep shearing... All the regional products are present..: reblochon (matured), Savoy tomme, chevrotin des Aravis, white tomme, mountain sausages... The reblochon is made on site, on this occasion, in late afternoon, in a huge copper cauldron. It is eaten white and freshly moulded - like the white tomme - with potatoes, delicatessen and salad. We even witness the production of bread traditionally baked in the ordinary wood oven. On the programme of this beautiful rural festival: open-air mass - in period costume -, aperitif-concert and country lunch, parade of herds and floats, folk dances and Savoyard snacks, donkey tribe, descent on wooden skis on an artificial piste, Savoyard dinner and dance evening. A free bus service is specially set up on this occasion to serve the Confins, the Aravis pass as well as the Croix Fry and Merdassier passes. We come here to find the spirit of yesteryear!
