Every year during a weekend, the best triathletes in the world, more than 4,000 athletes, come to compete in a swimming race, a cycling race and a foot race. On Sunday, the Ironman starts with a swim in the Allier Lake in Vichy (3.8 km), continues with a bike ride in the Bourbonnaise Mountains (180 km) and ends with a run on the banks of the Allier (21 km). Vichy is the only city in Europe to also host the Ironman 70.3 which takes place on Saturday. It includes 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21 km of running. Two other events are on the program: the Irongirl, a 5 km run for women over 15 years old, and the Ironkids for children aged 5 to 13 years.
