MIGRATORY FISH OBSERVATORY
Observatory allowing to see a multitude of fish and their race along the Allier river, a unique site in Europe.
It is the king of fishes! The Atlantic salmon, a migratory fish, travels thousands of kilometers from Greenland to come and reproduce... near Vichy! The Vichy observatory, with its 22 fishways installed in 1997, allows you to watch the race of the fish along the Allier River, behind large underwater windows. This observatory, unique in Europe, allows you to see a multitude of fish evolve in their natural environment. In addition to the Atlantic salmon, you will discover four other migratory species that frequent the Allier: large shad, sea lamprey, sea trout and eels. You are sure to be amazed! It is also, of course, a scientific observatory that allows you to observe the migration of salmon, to count them, to detect their possible injuries.
