ALLIANCE PARKS
13-hectare park with cedar and redwood trees on the banks of the Allier, with games, mini-golf and a beach ideal for swimming
Covering 13 hectares on the banks of the Allier, it has been Vichy's green lung since 1861. In 1864, a large greenhouse for overwintering plants was added. The Compagnie Fermière carried out a major planting campaign during the winters of 1934 to 1937. The gardens have always been a favorite spot for children and the ideal setting for a variety of sporting activities. The tradition continues. Since 1924, donkey rides have been held in Parc Kennedy as soon as the warm weather arrives. Since 1955, the Parc Napoléon has been home to mini-golf. Restored in 2007, the beach is a popular spot for sunbathers. From the outset, Parc Napoléon III has featured a greater variety of tree species than Parc Kennedy. Copses are planted with native species, while others, such as cedars and redwoods, are rarer. Between 1980 and 1990, the latest renovation, although faithful to the original, was simplified and rationalized to meet management constraints. The 1,155 trees in Parc Napoléon III and Parc Kennedy are monitored individually. The 8-hectare Parc des Bourins is considered the children's park, even before the Parc du Soleil was built. Populated by evergreen conifers, it features redwoods, cedars and Spanish firs. Remarkable trees stand on the outskirts of these wooded areas. In the heart of town, the Parc des Sources is currently being redeveloped until 2025.
