RIAU CASTLE
Medieval castle surrounded by a moat, forming a beautiful ensemble with its outbuildings, its dovecote and its 15th century entrance tower.
It is a beautiful medieval construction built between the 15th and 17th centuries. Thanks to the acquisition of the old castle of the 14th century by Anne de Beaujeu, Charles Popillon uses these foundations to build the Riau. Covered with slate and entirely surrounded by moats, the castle forms a harmonious whole with its outbuildings, its dovecote and its 15th century entrance tower with mullioned windows. Away from the castle, one of the most curious barns in France, the Tithe Barn, made of half-timbered wood and polychrome bricks, is a charming building dating from 1584.
