ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
Fortified church located in Allanche, which has preserved the military facilities of the 15th century.
A former priory of La Chaise-Dieu, the church has preserved its 15th-century military features: its gateway is topped by a defensive system, and a round tower still guards it. The apse, choir and dome, as well as the nave, date from the 12th century. Also worth seeing: the 15th-century polychrome stone pietà, the magnificent 18th-century gilded wood altarpiece, the Baroque tabernacle surrounded by statues of the four Evangelists, and the treasure chapel.
