THE THEBAID
Place housing a U-shaped convent, with a chapel having stained glass windows representing the saints of Auvergne in Arches.
In 1895, the U-shaped convent was inaugurated after ten years of work. Father Jean-Baptiste Serres was thus fulfilling his vow. The chapel has intact stained glass windows representing the saints of the Auvergne.
After the departure of the Sisters, in 1999, the commune of Arches became the owner. A programme of enhancement is underway to restore the value of this place. Bring good shoes to climb to the convent! You can also take a walk in the surrounding forest. You will find hermits' huts on the cliffside!
