PLACE SAINT-GERAUD
Square with a Romanesque façade with arcades and columns, a fountain with a monolithic tank and various fascinating monuments in Aurillac.
There is a Romanesque facade with arcades and skid, which certainly belonged to a hospice on the pilgrim route of Compostelle. Next to the th century is a colonial house in the middle of the square, the monolithic oak tree fountain dating from the th century. It was once in the abbey cloister, and still today, its provenance and especially its transport pose a riddle. The Church Saint-Géraud is an ancient abbey that shows a complex architectural evolution - see above. There will also be the old Labour Exchange and, close to the square, a few wooden houses, including the house of the Canons, dating back to the th century. This is where the canons of the chapter Saint-Géraud remained, after the secularization of the Abbey in 1569 and the destruction of the monastic enclosure by Protestants in 1569.
