CASTLE HOUSE
Now home to the Bourg-Argental tourist office and the Bancel museum.
The Maison du Châtelet is an architectural ensemble dating from the 15th and 18th centuries. It comprises a châtelet (a medieval town defense structure with machicolations and a parapet walk, originally dating from the late 15th century) and a former 18th-century mansion. Renovated and refurbished between 1999 and 2001, it now houses the Bourg-Argental tourist office and the Musée Bancel, which boasts a large collection of sculptures in bronze, marble and onyx, as well as numerous pen, wash, chalk and charcoal drawings.
